Should I choose a SEBO or Miele vacuum?

Both make excellent premium vacuums, and we recommend both. SEBO is known for durable, service-friendly designs, excellent electric powerheads, and easily replaceable wear parts. Miele is known for refined canister designs, excellent filtration, quiet operation, and premium convenience features. The better choice depends on your flooring, home size, cleaning preferences, and the features that matter most to you.

Which vacuum is best for carpet and hard floors?

Every vacuum we've selected for this page can clean both carpet and hard floors. The differences are in how they handle, their cleaning range and capacity, filtration, controls, included floor tools, and convenience features. Why should I choose a vacuum with an electric powerhead?

An electric powerhead gives you a motor-driven brushroll for properly cleaning carpet and rugs. We recommend one even if your home is mostly hard floors but you have some medium- or high-pile carpet or rugs.

 

It also future-proofs your purchase: you can't add an electric powerhead later to a vacuum that wasn't designed and wired for one. If your flooring changes, you'll already have the right equipment. That's why every vacuum in Our Top Picks includes an electric powerhead.

Should I choose a canister or upright vacuum?

Canisters are extremely versatile and make it easy to clean hard floors, carpet, stairs, furniture, and above-floor areas with a lightweight hose and wand. Uprights keep everything together in one unit and are a great choice for shoppers who prefer that traditional cleaning style.
