How to install A

retractable or hide-a-hose central vacuum system

A retractable hose central vacuum allows the vacuum hose to be hidden inside the walls when not in use. It works because the hose is a little smaller than the pipe, which allows it to pull back into the tubing. Depending on your layout, you can install overhead or under-the-floor joists but never store the hose on two different planes, as this would make it difficult to retract. Retractable hoses are available in 40, 50, or 60 feet. For most homes, one inlet per floor is sufficient. Please contact us at 1-833-382-2886 if you have questions about choosing the proper system.

When using a retractable hose system, you’ll want a high-powered central vacuum to ensure enough power to pull the hose back in. We have complete packages with the proper units to match, so check out our recommendations at the bottom of this page.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the hose disappear?

The innovative Hide-A-Hose Retractable Hose System utilizes the suction power from the central unit, typically located in the garage, to draw the hose back into the concealed PVC piping network within your home's walls, attic, and floor structures. The hose smoothly retracts without the need for coiling or compression.

Is the Hide-A-Hose system compatible with my current home?

Our Hide-A-Hose system is versatile and can be installed in most existing homes, provided there's access to an attic, basement, or crawl space. Depending on your layout, you can install overhead or under-the-floor joists but never store the hose on two different planes, as this would make it difficult to retract.

Can this system be added to an existing central vacuum setup?

In certain cases, yes. The Hide-A-Hose system is designed to store the hose in PVC tubing using specific fittings. If there's an accessible attic, crawl space, or basement, these new pipe routes can be integrated with your current vacuum system. Email us at info@GeekVacuums.com or call us at 1-833-382-2886 and speak to our central vacuum expert. We can help you determine if your existing power unit and accessories are compatible.

What hose lengths are offered?

The Hide-A-Hose System offers hoses in lengths of 30', 40', 50', or 60'. Choosing a longer hose can significantly reduce the need for multiple inlets, simplifying your vacuuming routine and extending reach up to 2200 square feet with just one inlet.

What hose options are available?

We provide two specific hose models for the Hide-A-Hose system: the RapidFlex™ hose, which operates efficiently without a cloth cover, and the SmartSoc™ hose, which includes a pre-installed hose sock. These hoses are engineered for optimal performance with the Hide-A-Hose system, and we cannot assure compatibility with hoses from other brands.

Does the hose sock remain clean after storage?

Yes, the hose sock maintains cleanliness better in the Hide-A-Hose system compared to traditional central vac systems. Activating the power unit creates a suction that removes debris from the sock. This advantage is absent in hoses stored in closets. Additionally, our hoses without wiring are fully washable for easy maintenance.

How is the power unit controlled?

Our system features a convenient low-voltage switch at each inlet for easy operation. Furthermore, Hide-A-Hose offers a wireless handle option, the RF Ready Grip, allowing you to turn the system on or off effortlessly from where you stand.

What type of power brush should I use?

Hide-A-Hose supports both turbine and electric power brushes, including the Turbocat and TK 284 Turbine Powerheads, as well as the CX1000 and KX1000 Battery Power Heads. Choose the option that best suits your cleaning needs.
