Made for the Austin Air HealthMate Plus (HM450). Austin notes it also fits its other standard-size purifiers. Match the prefilter to your purifier: white for a White or Sandstone unit, black for a Black or Midnight Blue unit.

  3. Carbon and zeolite blend over 780 cubic inches of activated carbon, potassium iodide-impregnated carbon and zeolite for VOCs, formaldehyde, chemicals, gases and odors.
  4. Medical-grade HEPA 60 sq. ft., rated to capture 99.97% of particles at 0.3 microns and 99% at 0.1 microns.

Which Austin Air purifier does the FR450 fit?

The FR450 is the replacement filter for the Austin Air HealthMate Plus (HM450) in every color. Choose the white prefilter for White and Sandstone units, or black for Black and Midnight Blue units.

Why is the FR450 the filter for chemicals and VOCs?

Along with activated carbon and zeolite, the FR450 holds potassium iodide-impregnated carbon, which targets VOCs, formaldehyde and other chemical gases.

Which prefilter color do I need?

Match the prefilter to your purifier’s color. The white prefilter is for White and Sandstone units, and the black prefilter is for Black, Midnight Blue and Graphite units. The filter inside is the same either way.

How often should I replace an Austin Air filter?

Austin Air designs its main filters to last up to five years under normal home use. The Austin “it” VOC carbon wrap is the exception, at about three months.

Can I use my FSA or HSA?

Yes. Austin Air purifiers and replacement filters are FSA/HSA eligible. Depending on your plan, you can pay with your FSA or HSA card at checkout, or pay another way and submit your receipt for reimbursement. Some plans ask for a letter of medical necessity, so check with your plan administrator if you’re not sure.
