The D4 comes with Sebo’s ET-1 electric powerhead, which does an excellent job cleaning carpet and rugs, including picking up pet hair. With four height settings, brushroll on/off control at the handle, and a brushroll you can remove without tools, it’s especially well suited to households that vacuum frequently.

FILTRATION

A fully sealed system, not just a filter

A filter is only as good as the machine around it. If air can leak past the bag or through gaps in the body, fine dust can end up back in the room no matter what the filter is called.

The D4 uses Sebo’s S-Class filtration in a sealed system. The air you vacuum passes through the bag, a pre-motor filter and an exhaust microfilter, then is diffused out through the foam-padded Airbelt bumper. The casing is sealed so air can’t slip around the filters on its way out.

Decided to grab the D4 since it was on sale, and I couldn't be happier with my choice. It's larger than the other machines I was looking at, but it rolls and rotates nicely enough to where the size and weight aren't a problem. It cleans much better than any vacuum I've owned before, and I'm glad I got a nice vacuum that will last me a long time!

When my wife and I were researching a new vacuum to replace our lackluster Rainbow e2, we came across Geek Vacuums on YouTube while watching a review of the SEBO D4. Does the Sebo D4 have HEPA filtration?

No. The D4 uses Sebo’s S-Class filtration rather than a HEPA filter, and it isn’t the same thing. S-Class is a filtration standard that applies to the whole vacuum: the air you pick up passes through the three-layer bag, a pre-motor filter and an exhaust microfilter, then is diffused out through the foam-padded Airbelt bumper. The casing is sealed so air can’t leak around the filters.

That sealed design is what keeps captured dust contained, so we look at the whole system rather than the word “HEPA” on one filter. If you have specific allergy concerns, chat with us and we’ll talk through your options.

How heavy is the Sebo D4?

The canister body weighs 15.9 lbs, and the hose handle you hold weighs about 1.5 lbs. While you vacuum, the canister rolls along behind you on its four wheels, so you only lift its full weight when you carry it up or down stairs. If you carry your vacuum between floors often, the lighter E3 (11.4 lbs) is worth a look.

What comes with the Sebo D4 Premium?

The canister, the ET-1 electric powerhead, a standard hard floor brush, a 7-foot hose with control handle, a telescopic wand, and three onboard tools: a dusting brush, an upholstery nozzle and a crevice tool. Replacement bags and filters are sold separately.

How long is the Sebo D4’s cord?

The power cord is 40 feet long and rewinds at the push of a button. With the hose and wand, that gives you up to 52 feet of cleaning reach from a single outlet.

How often do the Sebo D4 bags need replacing?

It depends on your pets, your household and how often you vacuum, so there isn’t a fixed schedule. Change the bag when the indicator on the canister turns orange, which happens when the bag is full or airflow is blocked.

At 1.5 gallons, the D4’s bag holds about 60% more than the E3’s, so you’ll change it less often. Replacement bags come eight to a box (Sebo Filter Bag Box D, 8120AM), each with a cap that seals the bag closed.
