HOW IT CLEANS YOUR AIR

How the Immunity Machine cleans your air

Most Austin Air purifiers specialize. The HealthMate Plus focuses on chemicals, and the Bedroom Machine adds a HEGA carbon cloth. The Immunity Machine combines all of it in one 8-phase filter, so you don’t have to choose.

It cleans the air by filtration alone, with no ozone or ionization, and Austin designs the filter to last up to five years under normal home use.

  1. Large particle pre-filter catches dust, hair and pet dander.
  2. Medium particle pre-filter traps mold spores and pollen.
  3. Activated carbon adsorbs odors and everyday gases.
  4. Potassium iodide-impregnated carbon targets chemicals such as VOCs and formaldehyde.
  5. Mineral-based media adds adsorption for gases like ammonia.
  6. Impregnated mineral-based media Austin’s proprietary layer for a broader range of gases.
  7. Medical-grade HEPA 60 sq. ft., rated to capture 99.97% of particles at 0.3 microns and 99% at 0.1 microns.
  8. HEGA carbon cloth a high-efficiency gas adsorption layer as the final stage.

Which Austin Air purifier is right for you?

Every Austin Air uses the same sturdy steel housing and 360° intake. What changes is the filter inside, and the size of the room it suits.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Immunity Machine

How is the Immunity Machine different from the HealthMate Plus and the Bedroom Machine?

All three are the same size and use 60 sq. ft. of medical-grade HEPA. The HealthMate Plus adds potassium iodide-impregnated carbon for chemicals, and the Bedroom Machine adds a HEGA carbon cloth. The Immunity Machine combines both, plus an extra impregnated mineral layer, in an 8-phase filter.

What is HEGA?

HEGA stands for high-efficiency gas adsorption. It’s a carbon cloth that adds another layer for gases and odors after the air has passed through the HEPA.

What colors does the Immunity Machine come in?

Austin makes the Immunity Machine in Graphite only.

Which replacement filter does the Immunity Machine use?

The Austin Air Immunity Machine Filter (FR444). Austin also says it fits its other standard-size purifiers, so it can upgrade a HealthMate, HealthMate Plus or Bedroom Machine.

How long does an Austin Air filter last?

Austin Air designs its filters to last up to five years under normal home use. Each filter combines the pre-filters, carbon and mineral media and HEPA in one unit, so there’s nothing else to change in between. The Austin “it” is the exception: its optional VOC carbon wrap is designed to last about three months.

What warranty comes with an Austin Air purifier?

Austin Air gives every purifier a five-year mechanical warranty, which requires returning the warranty registration, and a five-year pro-rated warranty on the filter.

Has Austin Air been studied?

Yes. In a study published in Pediatrics in 2011, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital placed HealthMate purifiers in the bedrooms of children with asthma who were exposed to secondhand smoke. Those children had 18.5% fewer unscheduled asthma-related visits than children given a placebo unit. A Johns Hopkins study published in Indoor Air in 2014 found the HealthMate lowered nitrogen dioxide from gas stoves by 27% in the kitchen and 22% in the bedroom within a week.

Do Austin Air purifiers produce ozone?

No. Austin Air purifiers clean the air purely by filtration: pre-filters, carbon and mineral media, and HEPA. They don’t use ionizers or anything else that creates ozone.

Can I use my FSA or HSA?

Yes. Austin Air purifiers and replacement filters are FSA/HSA eligible. Depending on your plan, you can pay with your FSA or HSA card at checkout, or pay another way and submit your receipt for reimbursement. Some plans ask for a letter of medical necessity, so check with your plan administrator if you’re not sure.

How does shipping work?

Orders of $200 or more ship free within the lower 48 states. If you have any questions about your order, chat with us or call and we’ll help.

Which Austin Air purifier is right for me?

Start with what you most want to filter out. The HealthMate is the everyday choice for dust, pollen, pet dander and smoke. The HealthMate Plus adds potassium iodide-impregnated carbon for chemicals, VOCs and formaldehyde. The Bedroom Machine adds a HEGA carbon cloth, and the Immunity Machine combines every layer Austin makes. The Junior models suit smaller rooms. If you’re not sure, chat with us and we’ll help you choose.
